Some of the death scenes in this game definitely made me cringe; I wasn't sure if they were going for the brutal style to show how Lara becomes so tough (which is the ostensible intent, but while it might go a ways to excusing the plain violence and pain shown in some cutscenes, there's not much purpose to be found for the cinematic deaths), if it's general pandering to the 'appeal' of videogame violence in any sense, or if some ryona-like fetishism worked its way in. It's unfortunate, but the latter do seem fairly likely -- is it really necessary that if I screw up one move in some river/mudslide obstacle course, I have to see a rusty metal pole crash through Lara's throat and  watch her struggle in shock and agony for a few seconds before she dies? But then, someone somewhere probably eats that kind of stuff up.

Though besides that, and aside from Lara's incessant 'I'm scared, oh no' voice acting (stop screaming damnit I get it the scary cultists and demons are attacking but I'm trying to focus on the fight!) which, while in character and understandable for her situation, seemed a little too frequent for how it was done, I would be lying if I suggested I didn't like the reboot overall. I feel like after scores of sequels they finally went back to something closer to the heart of the original Tomb Raider style (action, exploring and discovering, battling through distinct enemies, choosing your weapon by situation, etc.), but incorporating the smoother gameplay and graphics that are possible now to make a decent and playable final product.

Lara Croft is viewed as a sexual object because that was the writers intention.  A crap plot with boobs and ass in every shot.  Yeah, I'm sure that movie was ment to be serious and not to just make money as a borderline porn flick :/

Actually, the real reason for the size of her breasts being so large is because the guy who made the character model jacked it up 150% as a joke. Naturally, the team liked it and kept it that way on launch

And I saw a Lara Croft at the MCM Expo today. With revealing clothing. And red and brown smears over her.

This is why I go as Sniper, and not Lara Croft.
