Just like how I frequently make silly faces when drawing cartoon faces, sometimes I use my own hands as reference when drawing cartoon hands.

It's a little different with writers... When I'm thinking hard about how my character would react to a situation or comment, my eyes tend to glaze over as I dive into my head and try to act the scene out in my mind. :-)

sometimes when i draw i yell at random peron saying "CAN YOU POSE LIKE THIS FOR ME!!!....THANK YOU!OH WAIT DO THIS POSITION TOO!" usually its my bros or a friend sitting nxt to me >_<

I do that too. I'm not very good at drawing hands, and looking at my own helps a lot.
