SYAC - Harsh Lesson Thumbnails by TomPreston SYAC - Harsh Lesson Thumbnails by TomPreston
Before the next storyline starts up I thought it would be neat to show the thumbnail sketches I did for "A Harsh Lesson" so you can see how the whole process started.

I apologize for the bad scans. They're really tiny and light sketches meant for my own reference, so some of them might be hard to see.

As you can see, in the end Tenko was going to draw from an action figure as reference for his comic. When I decided to use my own old High School artwork as an in-joke for Tenko's artwork, I had to change the last 2 pages... which resulted in a less than clear ending. I really should have stuck with my thumbnail.

I always draw out a sketch before I paint or design anything... ^^ The end result is always so much cleaner, and you make less mistakes on your final draft!

It's pretty cool to know that some people out there actually still do rough sketches. I'm filling a sketchbook full of them right now lol.

It's interesting to actually see the process on goes when making their art work. Most people usually won't post that stuff but it is one of the important steps...

The ending made sense for the type of character Tenko is, in my eyes ;P
