“When they (critics) insult you, and they become the straw that broke the camels back and you snap at them or just defend yourself, the first thing they’ll say is “I thought you had a thick skin, you should learn to take criticism,” after they insulted you and your family. And they don’t realize they are comment number 1,000 out of a 1,000 comments that week. A thick skin is just that: Thick. It’s not impervious. It’s not invulnerable. And it’s not infinite. It gets ground down, worn away, and eroded. It needs to heal to grow back in time, and if you’re getting a constant stream of abuse you’re gonna snap, you’re gonna be sensitive, and you’re gonna get raw.”

-Jim Sterling

I take no credit for this one, guys. I just loved the way Jim described certain online interactions (as it hit home quite hard for me) and I wanted to visualize it for the benefit of others.

I just do: haters gotta hate :icontrollfaceplz:
But really, just ignore 'em. Those brats (yes, I call spoiled adults and kids older than me brats) don't know anything, and when they insult your family, how should they know? Pfft. Haters. -3-

There's a difference between insults and criticism. One must think critically about which they're receiving.

Oh no, late comment... Oh well...

Criticism is one thing.
But saying things like, "I hate your art!" / "Your fucking stupid because you couldn't spell 'you're'." (Still makes 'Grammar Nazis' look like idiots. There is no correction in 'your.' Its a choice on how you use it. How is it spelled wrong? Wait, its not.) / "Oh my gosh! The coloring is terrible! I won't tell ways for the art to look better. I'll just say that it looks retarded!" (This always happens to many artists.) / "Go die because you can't draw expressions correctly!" (But doesn't even try to help.)
(Here comes the real critics. Joys in arguments eh? Sadly I don't last so long...)
That my friends is not criticism. Should not even be regarded as one either. I don't see why people try defending it as one. I don't see how it helps improve anyone's art. Trust me, there are a lot imbeciles running around online like this. Sadly, we can't wish their unknown, and unreasonable hate to go away. Whats even worse? They hang around you while screaming that they hate you. (If you hate, then leave! Goodness, how stupid do you really have to be? Its almost like a Beiber hater. They hate his music and the guy himself. But has no common sense to leave it alone if they want nothing to do with him or hear about him.)
(Not even articles on random people could not justify who that person really is. You guys should just ignore those them.)

I'm not as popular so I don't get many comments no matter where I go.

But there's been moments where this one person writes this long post explaining what they think is wrong and doesn't even include a "I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just trying to help." or anything of the short.

First I get a bit of a breakdown irl, then I take a breather and, as politely as I can, tell them that if they don't like it, they shouldn't look at it.

I hate that argument. It's like...

"You need to bleed a little to enjoy life, so every time I talk to you I'm going to cut a huge swathe of skin off of your arm!"
