Haha, this seems so familiar. When I really started to get into writing, my friends seemed to care more about silly Inuyasha fanfics than my own original works. There was a point where this girl made me add a cat-girl to a very Lord of the Rings-ish story of mine, but after we stopped being friends I realized it simply wasn't right for her or anyone to control my ideas and my characters, and the story went so much smoother after I took the cat-girl out. I'll bet these two might be a wee bit peeved at first, but they should also be proud and encourage her to keep going with her own story the way she sees it.
