Whenever I tell someone I’m a cartoonist, their initial reaction is often pity... for some reason...

my initial reaction when someone says that is:

"YOU'RE A CARTOONIST!? THAT IS SO COOL! whats it like? is it fun? OH how exciting!" and then I continue talking a mile a minute for about 5 minutes.

It always confused me in Garfield when no one liked Jon because he was a cartoonist, when I was little, all I ever wanted to do was be a cartoonist!

I never knew he had a job except in the tv series. I mean I know he must have a job it just never seemed to specify it at least from what I've read. Also I dont think its his job I just think they didnt like him.

It specified all throughout the comic strip he was a cartoonist as well.
