So True. Everything i've ever read says it'll steal your life and spit in your face with unfounded criticism. But thats not gonna stop me from doing what i love. Maybe the career aspect of it but you know what i mean.

Cartooning, writing, any creative endeavour really, if you really want to excell at it (which I DON'T. I'm working on it though...), requires a LOT of discipline and emotional devotion. You can't create to live, you have to live to create. It has to be your everything. Almost more important than BREATHING.

And I feel that there are a lot of people out there who are like: "Oh yeah, I could create something... how hard could that be?" And then they go through a long hard haul and figure out it isn't for them. My English teacher said (and I'm sure this goes for cartoonists and any other form of creativity too) that more than 80% of all people want to write a book but only less than 2% actually do. It's all about the drive, the motivation, the emotional investment. If your heart's not in it... creation is not for you.

'course, you probably alreaady know this. Ha, I'm so silly. Random rants. Oh well, just saying what I think.

Rather be destroyed by cartooning then by anything else.
