SYAC - Silhouettes by TomPreston SYAC - Silhouettes by TomPreston

Read the latest “So, You’re A Cartoonist” at the following [link]

This is a real trick I learned from my professor in college. If you ever read a Marvel or DC comic and notice a lot of silhouetted panels, chances are the real reason behind them was because of deadline crunches.

that's just lazy. To draw a silhouette you still have to draw the structure of the space ship first anyways.

Weird, I have TONS of Marvel comics and I've never seen a silhouetted panel. I've noticed other resources I believe were used to save time, but never anything like that.

An unusual but neat fact. So long as they're not abused, silhouettes are very useful art tools.
