Just for the record, it’s not just women’s outfits that bother me in modern day super hero comics... Seriously, is that T-shirt vacuum sealed or something?

I actually prefer the plain T-Shirt... Somehow easier on my eyes. > .>

Ha ha, I love how disgruntled he looks at having his shirt vacuumed.

I gotta show this to a classmate of mine. She's always raging about how women are portrayed in comics, games, etc...

I would prefer you didn't since I'd personally probably be on HER side...

Fair enough. Though I'd really like to show her that it's not just women like she likes to imply. The whole industry is slightly warped, and as such, shouldn't be taken TOO seriously.
(Seriously, she's being slightly obnoxious about it. I'm studying 3D animation and some folks in my class are nervous about her reaction to any female characters they might be making in class...)

Honestly it sounds like she's doing good work! If they're worried about going with standard conventionally attractive women, maybe they'll start thinking outside the box more!

I understand where you're coming from, but I still don't feel it's right to browbeat people about something they don't mean to be offensive in the first place. When they're still learning the craft, even.

I say your fellow classmates should design female characters however they wish. Honestly I have to strongly disagree with the girl in your class and to Mr. Preston here.

There's never anything wrong nor should there be anything wrong with looking attractive, for both men and women. I mean, if the person or character is 90% nude, then yeah that's a bit too much and just being desperate for attention. We've seen fictional characters who have shown lots of skin but have also grabbed in a fanbase because of creativity on either personality or it's story. Basically if the lightly clothed/super fit bodied character can grab attention for their looks, but also keep it's viewers to stay with an engaging story, then it's doing something right. Examples like the anime Gurren Lagann, or the early days of the Tomb Raider games, and even some Final Fantasy games. Not to say fully clothed characters can't do the same, obviously they can, we've seen it multiple times.

Just figured I'd give my thoughts on this matter to say it's not as bad as people make it out to be.

Honestly that's the BEST time to browbeat someone. Better they learn to question themselves and why they do thins now before they develop the bad habits...
