Returning to the USA was more frustrating and time consuming than leaving it.

The boarder patrolmen were extremely suspicious about my books, thinking they had been printed in the UK even though I repeatedly told them I brought them with me for a convention. The fact that I had some packs of Jaffa Cakes was also a huge concern because they might contain peanuts which would contaminate things, even though I bought them IN the lobby of the airport after going through security.

Overall it was awful. I felt like I was a criminal trying to escape, not a citizen trying to get back in.

Edit: The problem with the books being printed in the UK has to do with taxing. If my inventory was from the UK, that would mean I'd have to be taxed on my books for entering the USA. The problem with the Jaffa Cakes? Yeah that was sounding pretty bull. It's like they pulled me aside but then realize there wasn't anything wrong so they started making up excuses to make it sound like they hadn't goofed up.

So disappointed in airport security.

Dammit. No emotes for disappointment.

I'll just go with this one.

If only you could've gotten away with stuffing a Jaffa Cake in their mouth (without getting arrested/tasered/overly man-handled/etc) and have told them to "eat it", when they were starting the nonsense over the cakes that you bought at their own airport. Yeesh :(

Man, so true. It's worse when you're coming back in a boat terminal. -.- They keep you there for an hour and a half and make you look through these weird eye machines. What the crap are they trying to look for? High tec terrorist technolgy hidden in the nerves of your eyesockets?

Peanuts...contaminating things? What the heck? (unless it's related to allergies or something...)

I have flown multiple times to and from he US, smuggling foreign goods, including cases of beer. This situation has never happened to me.
Any kind of powder on the other hand, they will be extremely suspicious of.
