The Jim Henson Muppet company recently pulled a promotional tie-in with Chick-fil-A over the fact that Chick-fil-A supports and contributes to anti-gay groups. Since then, it’s been a public relations nightmare for Chick-fil-A as they try to salvage their company image. They’ve even gone so far as to hire people to make fake Facebook accounts to try and counter the negative publicity they’ve been getting.

The most recent example of backlash came in the form of a letter from the mayor of Boston declaring that the city doesn’t want Chick-fil-A to do business there, since Boston and Massachusetts in general are such strong supporters of gay rights. In response, Arkansas Governor Mark Huckabee has suggested a “Chick-fil-A Appreciate Day” scheduled for August 1st to help clean Chick-fil-A’s image.

Wouldn't it be funny if the people who turned out for the appreciation day were protestors? I'll bet that would send a powerful message!

Personally I feel that Chick-fil-A is in serious trouble. As gay rights become more mainstream and popular, rallying against such initiatives is going to eventually become antiquated and outdated. Chick-fil-A needs to realize that supporting discriminatory groups is a bad long-term investment for a company centered around serving fast food.

I've been looking through pages of butthurt and arguing, commenting where I see appropriate, and trying OH SO HARD not to troll the conservatives on this page. Seriously guys, gays will be gays. I support gay marriage, but do not see the need to get one myself, simply because it's not necessary. Marriage was started as a financial/religious ritual to transfer the daughter from the property of the father, to the property of the husband. Thus, sanctity of marriage can be essentially boiled down to "man own woman, ug". All you christians, your ranting and intolerance will get you nowhere, try to convince us to stop being gay, is like a father trying to reprimand a teenage child, it just makes them more defiant. In the process of which, you have blood on your hands for the thousands of suicides by conflicted or bullied gays, not to mention your monstrous "conversion therapies".

This is pointless. How dare the Chick Fil A president express his opinion! It's not like its okay to disagree with something!

Guess what? Chick Fil A has received strong support from many Americans, and their business is better than ever.

"Serious trouble"? Nope, they're doing just fine. Live with it.

There is such a thing as an opinion that should not be tolerated. It was Hitler's opinion that Jews should be wiped out, for example, again, to acceptable.

uh .. chick fila never said they where anti gay... pro family mean two people being marryed... do gays not consider them selves a family if there married to each other?

We are talking about conservative "pro family" groups.
By their definition homosexuals are not a family.

What you mean are liberal "pro family" groups who tolerate "unusual" families (at least the types it is hip to tolerate).

no offence meant by the last comment. its just a thought, but people for gay rights do tend to do a lot more ranting and screaming then others. they seem to get allot uglier to when you give them your opinion. wile cristans tend to protest quietly. its easer to rispect quite people over some one who would cuss and spit in your face cause they dont like your opinion... the gay rights activist made a huge deal over the owner of chick fila saying he was pro family.. i eat there every chance i get.
