Is a real children's book to buy in places?

It should totally be one.

Trolls come in various shapes and colors. I've met a lot of them: art troll, slander troll, grammar troll.

Some people only troll at the END of a debate. It's like they can't win the debate, so they troll as their last statement. I've gotten into debates with several teenage members in DA. They all end the debates by making bad comment about my grammar as if they're the cleverest grammar professors - the true owners of English language!

Grammar Trolls/Nazis are abundant in DA. Simply by spotting one typo, or even a misuse in comma, they feel they have the "heavenly right" to insult other people. It gives DA a bad name, as if DA didn't welcome anyone from non-English speaking countries. Because of this, many members beg DA to add Edit Comment function so they can be spared from Grammar Trolls. I think it's about time DA does something to stop those grammar trolls! It's simply not healthy for an art community as big as DA to ignore grammar trolling. It's similar to condoning bullying in schools.

You pretty much snagged that "troll" design from 'Where the Wild things are'...and I am really P.O'd about it.

Well...You could've come up with your own design, you know? I mean, I understand the want to supply a tribute but...well...originality is kind of a thing when it comes to story telling--even if it's in a medium such as this.
A big character in the story looking like it came from someone elses idea, well, it makes it look as though you're stealing instead of actually coming up with your own idea. There's an impression about it and seeing something as familiar as that makes your work lack it's own original character--that spark. It gets bland seeing the same thing over and over again and there's no creative pioneering.

It's kind of like you're copping out on this one. And that's a bit of a shame.

I love how everyone assumes I do everything on my own. lol. For the record, I drew a variety of different troll concepts for Brent and Dan to choose from, and in the end we went with a combination of a couple of them that intentionally were inspired to look somewhat like Where the Wild Things Are.

I understand the concern about stagnation and it is a reoccurring issue in the comic and art industry. But I think the design is changed enough to be unique while also paying homage to a great children's book classic, which is what we wanted.

That's not  a reason or excuse to be a jerk about it. It's all about execution and trying to justify being a jerk with good intentions that may or may not true won't matter.

It's not that, just don't be hateful to others when it's obvious they're very proud of what they've done. If a little kid shows you their drawing and it totally sucks, would you tell them it sucks? No, you'd just smile and congratulate them.

I love the full series of these images. Down to earth truth about Trolls and Trolling, yet with that light humorous cartoon touch. I would love to see these merged into one larger image and spread like a virus through the net. It is a message that needs to be spread.
