You can tell it's the "future" because of the shoulder pads.

One of the more disturbing things I've had to draw...

Those printers usually aren't that big I think... Or he just wanted quantity over quality or something. XD

Are 3d printers that easy to use and design templates for? Damn, maybe I should get one. I wonder how feasible it would be to make a fusion reactor with one. The tough part is making a linear accelerator designed for a charge to mass ratio 100 thousand times less than that of a proton, to give each projectile an energy of 50 keV per proton mass; it would require so many acceleration stages and such fine and precise detail especially at the beginning. But the really tough part is the shape of the fuel pellets, 500 nm diameter beads of deuterated parrafin mounted on 100 micron long 3 nm thick titanium wires. Then there's the electrostatic charger and particle launcher. Eh. Probably it would be easier to just make a bunch of boobs after all.

So now we have the communicator (cellphone) and the replicator (3D printer). But sadly I don't see warp drive or the transporter as very likely. Actually the cellphone isn't exactly a big surprise, that's one that everyone saw coming from the day radio was invented, Maxwell Smart had one in his shoe, and I think that show was on a few years before star trek. Well it definitely ended after star trek ended but it was on a long time, but I think it started first.

this dosn't have to be the future, it just have to be at a really rich guy, who for some strange and unexplainable reason likes weird sholderpads reminiscent of a 1960's tv series vision of what they may wear in the future.
