I decided to check up on what's being added to Minecraft for the next big update and in the latest snapshot there is a new kind of block... a Day/Night detector block!
Naturally the first thing I did was load up my old Night Raiders PVP map and rework the redstone wiring. Originally to detect the day/night cycle I had to rely on Testificates, which was very inconsistent and used a ton of redstone. Now with this new block all that was removed and it's just a direct link to the doors. Much easier now!
Please keep in mind this version only works with snapshot 13w02b and higher, so if you want to play it you need to update your minecraft to the new snapshot. You can follow this [link] to download the .jar file to update if you need it.
As for the map... please follow this [link] for where you can download it. I'd be curious to see if the new day/night system works better for y'all.

The only thing that I would have done differently is used a falling minecart going through some cobwebs as the timer as it takes up less room and is quicker to build.
I actually created a PVP Computer that players could use to setup custom games and build maps upon it so people didn't have to mess around with redstone wiring, after exploring this map.
