You know what character I've always wanted to draw correctly but never could? Jasmine from Aladdin. No matter how many times I've tried, studying the character, the animation, etc... I just can't do it right. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

For that matter I wish I had a more disney-seque style of drawing. I think you can see some Mickey Mouse and Bone inspirations in my shorter cartoony characters like Spot or Talus... but when it comes to human beings I have a very hard time moving away from my Rumiko Takahashi roots. I really envy some of my fellow artists here on DA who have gorgeous linework and character designs, especially in the realm of the face. I've tried but, like Jasmine, I struggle.

When I get Super Mario 3D Land for my 3DS, you can probably expect to see a lot of fanart of characters running around with Tanookie tails. I friggin' LOVED the leaf powerup in Super Mario Bros 3 and it's been damn close to 20 years since it's been in a new Mario game.

I hate spoilers, but I also love seeking out info on new games and movies. That often doesn't work out very well for me...

Speaking of movies, the new CG TinTin epic has been getting a lot of good press at test screens. Here's hoping when the movie finally is released it'll be just as good as it's looking to be. If there's ever been a movie adaptation of something I've cherished from my childhood, this is the one I'm the most apprehensive about... But knowing Andy Serkis is going to be playing Captain Haddock kinda makes me think maybe the world isn't all that bad after all...

I might take a bit of a break after this latest SYAC story wraps up because I'm feeling a bit burned out. Don't worry I am not stopping. I have plans for the next story, I have thumbnails for the once a day gag interstitials, etc... I just need to take a bit of a breather after working so hard.

Speaking of, 2011 is almost over and it's been a damn good year for me art wise. I dunno what changed but around January I just kicked off the year with lots of comics and art, gained a huge following with the SYAC series, and aside from one or two short breaks now and then to recuperate, have been pretty much drawing non-stop. That's a big record for me and proof that there's a good possibility I'll be able to live comfortably doing what I love doing if I just keep at it.

I wish there was a way to monetize the pageviews I get on DA. While I make money on my SYAC series and ad revenue, it's not enough to stop having major money concerns. I've joked about it before but if I had just a penny for every 100 views... Wow... I'd be making a LOT of money!

Hmm... I wish DA would implement some sort of ad revenue generating method of helping artists out. There are a lot of better artists than me who could use the money from that to live off of...

Ever since my iPod Touch upgraded to the newest operating system, I can wirelessly synch with it now. Unfortunately this requires that I still go to the computer to tell what I want to synch since I can't access my computer through the ipod itself. It also drains the batteries like there's no tomorrow, requiring it to be plugged in somewhere which kinda defeats the whole "wireless" aspect, don't you think? Oh yeah and also it takes 4 times as long as if I had just plugged it into the computer to synch it. Hmm... 3 steps forward 2 steps back... but at least we're making progress!

You know what's great about Nerdfightaria? We help decrease world-suck.

I did plenty of manga, and I really improved by studying the human body and face.

You could try drawing realistically.

So...kind of like YouTube partners, but for DA? Sounds like a good bit of brain crack...

The only problem I see is the self-involved nature of some watchers. They'll give so much grief about more ads it will only be funny ironically.

I just saw Tintin and I thought it sucked. Bad, confusing storyline, unclear character motivations, bad character designs, unappealing characters and way too much "look what we can do with our computers". I know that a lot of people liked it for the look and humour but I found myself not caring at all about what happened to the characters and as far as I am concerned that is death for a film.
It did look good (except the characters' faces) but I do not go to the cinema to see good backgrounds. I go to the cinema to see engaging characters in a good story and in my opinion Tintin had neither of those things.

I can't seem to Disnefy either. I've been trying to draw Great Gatsby stuff in that style... but with little success. I guess it either comes naturally or not at all.

In here Tintin has already been released. I haven't seen it yet, but I've heard it's pretty good. Not perfect, but not horrible either.
I could give it a try, even though I'm not a big Tintin fan. :)

Try tracing pictures of Jasmine to get the feel for drawing her . Tracing is actually pretty good practice :p

You know what I dislike the most about wireless syncing?
When I'm doing something, and itunes realizes my ipod is connected to the same network as my laptop.
And iTunes pops up like:
HEY I SEE YOU NEED ME LOOK YOUR IPOD IS CONNECTED.

-I was doing something FFFFFFFF

i think we need to see your attempts at Jasmine. Maybe it just has a lot of your "style" in it, which isnt a bad thing! I have trouble drawing other people's characters in my own style.

This year was a great year for my art too! =D I barely picked up a pencil since I did graphic design some 8 years ago, but this year I got published finally, and I did my own cover and bookmarks and posters and stuff (someone else was supposed to, I am under no illusions about my art and its quality) and since then, that, plus FiM, has really got me back into drawing and I'm finally improving again and drawing nearly every day, instead of something like once a year like I was before.
I'm hoping the Tintin movie is gonna be good too... not sure if I can afford to see any movies right now though... I feel your pain with the money thing - hope things pick up soon!

I draw Disney so much that it's the only style I can draw in now, believe it or not. We can trade skills, (I love Ranma 1/2) but I'm on an art block.

I've used these, think they'll help?

I always find Jasmine's hair to be hard to draw. I think it's more of her shape that's tough. I don't know why she's hard for me to draw too.

I have been following Tin Tin since I used to read it in France and I honestly cant wait. My parents and I have decided to go and see it in theaters if my dad is still at home when it comes out.

As for princesses, I would love to be able to draw characters from FernGully but I cant. I either draw real, or anime or my own way. but I didnt forget what my teacher taught me in Figure drawing and all I learned from it.

I haven't tried with Disney Princesses . . . actually, I don't think I've tried with any Disney character at all, even though I've copied their style tirelessly when I was trying to get out of my anime style phase. I'm too nervous to draw them for fear of how much I could mess them up lol ;;;

Meh. It takes a while for one to practice drawing a human being in their own way or just for their portfolio. Coming to that point, it's like adjusting and improving one's art style to adapt and draw certain things perfectly in their own image.

Reading the part about you doing some Tanooki fan art makes me want to do my best so my mom buys me the 3DS after I finish 10th grade and buy 3D Land… that… or I'll just replay SMB3 for the Tanooki suit and do some art too. I also feel as if 2011 has been a great year for my art, I've definitely taken an improvement. Glad things have been well for you this year and I hope it continues to be so for you and feel free to take any breaks, people will probably complain, but art takes energy.
